1. Who We Are
Glance Captions (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an AI-powered caption generation app. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

2. What We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Full name — to personalise your experience
- Email address — to identify your account and for login
- Country — to understand our user base
- Profile photo URL — only if you sign up with Google (sourced from your Google account)
Content You Upload
When you generate captions, you may upload photos or videos. These files are:
- Sent to our AI service to analyze and generate captions
- Not permanently stored by us after processing
- Deleted from our servers immediately after your captions are returned
Generated Captions
The captions we generate for you are saved to your account history in Firestore (Google Firebase) so you can access them later.
Usage Data
We use Firebase Analytics to understand general app usage patterns (e.g. which features are used most). This data is aggregated and not linked to your identity.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate the app:
Google Firebase (Google LLC)
Used for authentication, database (Firestore), and analytics. Your account data is stored in Firebase.

Anthropic Claude API
Your uploaded media and description are sent to Anthropic’s API to generate captions. Anthropic processes this data according to their API usage policy and does not use API inputs to train their models.

Google Sign-In (optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.

5. Data Retention
- Account data (name, email, country) — kept until you delete your account
- Caption history — kept until you clear history or delete your account
- Uploaded media — not retained; discarded immediately after caption generation
- Analytics data — retained per Firebase’s default retention settings (up to 14 months)
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — your captions and profile are visible inside the app
- Delete your history — use the trash icon on the History screen
- Delete your account — tap your profile avatar → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, all caption history, and your login credentials immediately.
- Request a data export — email us at [your@email.com] and we will respond within 30 days
7. Children’s Privacy
Glance Captions is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. We use Firebase’s built-in security rules to ensure users can only access their own data. We do not store payment information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
